Saikou Marong, former Latrikunda Sabiji MP, has shed light on his rumoured appointment to the foreign service.

Reports have it that President Adama Barrow has appointed Mr Marong

and two of his fellow former lawmakers

to the foreign service.

All three former MPs and staunch supporters of the president were defeated in April’s National Assembly elections.

However, speaking exclusively to Gambiana, Mr Marong denied the rumours saying that it’s not true.

“What I can tell you is that I am not yet appointed and I am not yet going to the foreign service. I am here for now. I am not an appointing authourity,” he said.

“President Adama Barrow is the one who appoints people. I don’t have any power to appoint myself to any job in the foreign service. President Barrow didn’t promise me any job. This is just people’s words,” he added.
