A new development has emerged in the Pape Cheikh Diallo and associates case, with additional arrests reported.

According to Libération newspaper, one of the latest suspects, Cheikh Ahmadou Guèye, was apprehended in Thiès by investigators from the Research Brigade.

Sources indicate that Guèye, who was aware he was being pursued, allegedly attempted an unusual move by hastily getting married last week, reportedly in a bid to deflect suspicion or create an alibi.

However, the manoeuvre did not prevent his arrest, as gendarmes later took him into custody.

The newspaper further reports that Guèye is among the suspects whose medical test results have returned positive.

Authorities have not yet provided further official details on the nature of the tests or the implications for the ongoing investigation.
