Fabakary Tombong Jatta has accused the Attorney General of ‘smear’ campaign against APRC and former president Yahya Jammeh.

The APRC’s interim leader was speaking at a news conference on Wednesday at his residence in Talinding.

“Why are AG-Ba Tambadou and his cohort busy with smear campaign against APRC and Yahya Jammeh for that since former president Yahya Jammeh left the shores of this country?” he said.

“I am saying that the main reason was to distract us – Gambians [to put our] focus us on Yahya Jammeh, his killings, lootings, APRC, how bad we are – while they are looting quietly our resources [to] enriching themselves.”

Mr Jatta added: “I believe Ba Tambadou doesn’t have the moral compasses to talk about [former] president Yahya Jammeh, APRC as to our bad deeds.”

Former president Yahya Jammeh has been living in exile in Equatorial Guinea after losing the 2016 presidential election to Adama Barrow. His departure ensued a threat from the sub regional security forces after he refused to cede power, citing electoral fraud.
