The governments of The Gambia and Mauritania have signed fourteen agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in key sectors, including trade, energy, mining, fisheries, water resources, education, youth and sports, and livestock.
The agreements were finalised during the Sixth Session of the Joint Commission for Cooperation, held in Nouakchott from 26 to 27 June 2025, according to a statement from The Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The session, co-chaired by Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow and Prime Minister El Moctar Ould Djay, reviewed progress since the last meeting in 2012 and identified new areas for collaboration.
Prime Minister Ould Djay hailed the strong ties between the two countries, highlighting President Barrow’s 2024 state visit as a sign of growing alignment. Vice President Jallow thanked the Mauritanian government for its hospitality and support.
The agreements are expected to lay the groundwork for deeper cooperation and mutual development.
