The Gambia government through National Food Security Processing & Marketing Corporation has announced the importation of 35,000 metric tons of fertiliser for sale to farmers.

The institution said the fertiliser will be sold to farmers at a discounted price due to government subsidy.

In a statement, shared with Gambiana, the body said: “In consultation with the Government of The Gambia, National Food Security Processing & Marketing Corporation is pleased to inform the public, particularly the farming community that the sales price for the newly received fertilizer has been pegged at D1,150 per 50kg bag at the Corporation’s Depots.”

“The above price is a subsidised price, and it is important to note that the Government of The Gambia will pay as subsidy, D1,384.00 for each bag of fertiliser purchased by farmers as its contribution towards making the fertiliser affordable.

“All stakeholders are hereby informed that for prudent management of the fertiliser sales, NFSPMC has partnered with Bloom Bank (Gambia) to collect the sales proceeds from the farmers through CPMSs and Agricultural Mixed Farming centres,” the statement added.
