The Gambia Police Force Sunday joined the nation in a solemn ceremony to remember and honour the veterans of World Wars I and II.
The event, which took place at McCarthy Square in Banjul, brought together various branches of the military, ex-servicemen, government officials, and diplomats to pay tribute to those who served in the two world wars.
Led by the Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, Muhammed B. S. Jallow, the ceremony included a two-minute silence to reflect on the sacrifices made by the veterans. Wreaths were laid at the memorial in a poignant display of respect and gratitude for their service, which helped shape the course of history and contribute to the peace and stability the world enjoys today.
The event also served as an opportunity to highlight the ongoing commitment of The Gambia to honour and remember the contributions of its veterans.
The Gambia Police Force’s participation further emphasised the nation’s dedication to recognising the enduring legacy of those who fought in the global conflicts of the 20th Century.
The ceremony was a moving reminder of the bravery and selflessness shown by the men and women who served in both World War I and II, and it underscored the importance of remembering their efforts in the pursuit of peace.
