The Gambia has secured an additional US$10 million in financing from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) to support the 50-kilometre Greater Banjul Roads Project.

The financing agreement was signed during a visit by SFD President Sultan Ben Abdulrahman Al-Marshad and his delegation, who were in The Gambia from August 30 to September 1, 2026, as special guests of President Adama Barrow.

Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Seedy K. M. Keita hosted the delegation and held discussions on strengthening cooperation between The Gambia and Saudi Arabia.

The additional funding is expected to further support efforts to improve road infrastructure across the Greater Banjul Area.

The two sides also discussed other areas of cooperation and potential development financing opportunities for The Gambia.

The government said the partnership with Saudi Arabia forms part of its efforts to mobilise financing for infrastructure development, economic growth and improved living conditions for Gambians.
