
It’s all set for a double showdown between The Gambia and hosts Algeria as The Gambia boys and girls Beach Volleyball teams powered their way into the African School Games finals after a brilliant display in the semi-finals.
The boys team laid down a marker with a dominant 2-0 victory over Sao Tome, winning their sets 21-17 and 21-16 in commanding fashion. Their sharp serves and solid teamwork left their opponents struggling to keep up as they cruised into the gold medal match.
Not to be outdone, the girls team showed nerves of steel to edge past a determined Nigerian side in a tense three-set thriller. After clinching the first set 21-17, they stumbled in the second 16-21 but regrouped to claim the decider 15-10, sparking wild celebrations among players and supporters.
Both Gambian teams now stand just one win away from writing history at the Games. The finals promise fireworks as they take on the hosts Algeria on their home court, a challenge that has only fired up The Gambia’s young stars to dream big.
