A Gambian man identified as 44-year-old Ousman Ceesay has been named by police as the suspect in a deadly shooting at a gay bar in Tucson, Arizona, United States.

Tucson Police said Ceesay allegedly confronted two men, Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33, in the parking lot of Venture-N, a longtime LGBTQ+ venue, early Monday morning before fatally shooting them.

Ceesay was also wounded during the incident and later died at a local hospital.

Police have launched a hate crime investigation after reportedly finding a note linked to Ceesay that listed several businesses associated with the LGBTQ+ community.

The shooting has prompted increased police presence around LGBTQ+ establishments in Tucson, although Police Chief Monica Prieto said there was no indication of an ongoing threat to the wider public.

Community members have since gathered outside the bar to leave candles and flowers in memory of the victims, while local leaders and LGBTQ+ organisations have condemned the violence.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not disclosed further details about Ceesay’s background or a possible motive.
