Gambian naval officer, seaman Richard Mendy, who died in fuel tanker explosion has been finally laid to rest at his home village of Jagil in Foni.

In line with military traditions, his coffin was  escorted with twenty-one gun shots in his honour as a brave fallen soldier.

The Gambia Armed Forces has remembered him as “brave and gallant”soldier who died on the duty of national service.

Among the  mourners  were Minister of Defence Serigne Modou Njie, e Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Mamat OA Cham, and several uding senior military officers.
