Gambian footballers who are stranded in Cameroon for two days after they got knocked out of the Afcon quarterfinal, have vented their frustration over delay in getting them home

“When are we coming back home, we don’t even know when are coming back home? There is no confirmation of flight yet, maybe in one-hour, maybe in two-hour we are just like this. We don’t even know, even me we don’t know,” Ebrima Sohna, who plays defensive midfield said in a viral video.

“Let no one fool you to go to the airport until you see us the players write on our social media platforms to go to the airport and welcome us.

“And many people have gone to the Gambia because that’s where their bags are and some left their European passports and they will spend only one day and leave for their clubs,” he added as other players could be heard complaining.

However the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has blamed logistical reasons for the delay.

“The GFF regrets to inform the general public that there is a new development with regards to the arrival of the senior national football team (Scorpions) due  to logistical reasons,” the nation’s football body said in a statement yesterday

According to the body, a new arrival time will be communicated to the public in due course.

Its advised everyone to stand down for the time being, saying “we deeply apologised for any inconvenience caused.”
