GAP Secretary General Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly said the country’s socio-economic troubles are getting worse due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Batchilly said: “As Covid-19 continues to engulf our country, insecurity and poverty on daily basis strikes the people that make life difficult for more than half of the country’s population.”
He urge the government to take the necessary steps to improve the wellbeing of the Gambian people.
Batchilly also called on Gambians to work together for peace and to free the country from the shackles of poverty.
He denounced tribalism and religious intolerance and said these social problems could threaten the peaceful coexistence of the Gambian people.
