The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) has secured a $50,000 grant from the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) to renovate the Olympic House, marking a significant boost for the country’s sports infrastructure.

The funding comes as part of GNOC’s strategic plan to modernize the facility, increase its capacity, and create a more functional and attractive environment for sports administrators, athletes, and visiting officials.

Officials said the renovation will position the Olympic House as a central hub for sports development and governance in the country.

GNOC signed a formal contract with MJ20 Construction and Civil Engineering Company Ltd, signalling that construction and renovation works are set to begin soon.

The committee has assured stakeholders that the project will be completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to ongoing activities.

GNOC leadership highlighted that the upgraded facility will do more than improve aesthetics.

It is expected to enhance operational efficiency, provide better support for national federations, and serve as a symbol of The Gambia’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent across all levels.

“The renovation of the Olympic House is a major milestone for sports development in The Gambia,” a GNOC official said.

“It reflects our determination to provide world-class infrastructure for administrators and athletes alike, while boosting the country’s profile in the international sporting community.”

Once completed, the modernised Olympic House will host training workshops, administrative meetings, and international delegations, serving as a vibrant hub for advancing The Gambia’s sporting ambitions on the continental and global stage.
