
The President of the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC), Bai Dodou Jallow, has officially closed the five-day Sports Administration Course for Sports Journalists, describing the media as a key partner in advancing sports development and safeguarding the credibility of sport in The Gambia.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Bai Dodou Jallow praised participants for their commitment and professionalism throughout the training, which was conducted under the framework of Olympic Solidarity.

“As sports journalists, you play a critical role in shaping narratives, promoting integrity in sport, and inspiring communities through responsible and informed reporting,” he said.
Omar Jarju, the President of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) also described the course as a turning point for sports journalism in The Gambia, urging journalists to move beyond reporting only match results.

“We can no longer be passive observers. We must use this knowledge to tell deeper stories, hold sporting institutions accountable, and report with a higher level of professionalism,” Omar Jarju stated.

The five-day training brought together 25 sports journalists and focused on sports administration, governance, Olympic values, communication and media ethics.
