The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has promoted 3,618 police officers across various ranks, from Police Constable to Assistant Superintendent of Police.

The promotions, announced on September 4, include 1,407 Police Constables to First Class Constable, 1,239 First Class Constables to Corporal, 187 Corporals to Sergeant, and 373 Sergeants to Sub-Inspector.

A further 230 Sub-Inspectors were promoted to Inspector, 114 Inspectors to Chief Inspector, and 68 Chief Inspectors to Assistant Superintendent of Police.

The GPF said the promotions form part of its efforts to support personnel development and improve service delivery.

The Police High Command congratulated the promoted officers, reminding them that their new ranks come with greater responsibility and expectations of professionalism, discipline, integrity and commitment to duty.
