
The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has provided an update on investigations into three alleged murder cases, saying significant progress has been made while urging the public to allow the legal process to take its course.
Police said four suspects are in custody in connection with the death of 23-year-old Musa Sabally of Brikama Bojang Kunda.
Sabally allegedly died after being assaulted by a group of individuals and was pronounced dead on arrival at Brikama Health Centre.
A post-mortem examination has been conducted, while investigators continue efforts to identify and arrest other suspects believed to be linked to the incident.
Investigations are continuing into the death of Kebba Sarr, a truck driver whose body was discovered in an apartment in Nema, Wellingara, on June 15.
Police said a 19-year-old woman arrested in connection with the case remains in custody and is assisting investigators. A post-mortem examination has also been carried out as inquiries into the circumstances of Sarr’s death continue.
In the case involving the death of Yunusa Mbaye in Fajara on June 15, police said a post-mortem examination was completed and evidence collected before the case file was submitted to the Ministry of Justice.
According to the GPF, prosecution proceedings against the accused commenced before the High Court on Wednesday, June 24.
The police condemned all forms of violence and reiterated their commitment to conducting professional and impartial investigations.
The Force also urged the public to avoid actions or statements that could prejudice ongoing investigations or court proceedings, stressing that justice is best served through due process, respect for judicial independence and adherence to the rule of law.
