A group of disappointed Gambians are planning a protest against the Gambia Football Federation after the team’s “woeful” African Cup of Nations exit.

The Gambia team were knocked out of the tournament after losing their three group matches and conceding 7 goals with no point.

This resulted in the team’s coach Tom Saintfeit having to resign from his post amid heavy criticism among Gambian football fans and pundits.

However, dozens of other Gambians are also demanding the leadership of Lamin Kaba Bajo to resign for “failing” the country’s football fraternity.

The group organising the protest has written to the Inspector General of Police to seek permit.

The letter to the IGP, which was seen Gambiana stated: “In relation to the above, and in line with Section 25 of the 1997 Constitution of The Gambia which guarantees Freedom of Expression, Assembly and its limitation, we write to apply for a permit through your honorable office to peacefully protest and express our dissatisfaction against the Gambia Football Federation (GFF).

“We believe that GFF as a body heading the country’s football for far too long has been engaging in massive corruption and mismanagement of funds, thereby, derailing the progress of our football.

“As such, we as patriotic youths who are passionate about football deemed it necessary to come out and manifest to the Gambians and the world at large that enough is enough; GFF MUST GO!.”
