Former president Yahya Jammeh has been subpoenaed by Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court in Banjul over a land dispute.

Jammeh is a defendant in a civil case alongside the Alkalo of Duwasu, Yayah Nyassi.

The court case was brought by two businessmen Jibi Bah and Pateh Bah who are seeking declaration that they owned the leased land in Duwasu village.

Justice Jaiteh said Jammeh’s subpoena should be submitted through diplomatic channels as the former president is out of the jurisdiction of The Gambia.

The judge ordered that the services be effected through President Obiang of Equatorial Guinea, the host of the former president Jammeh.

The judge has granted an interim injunction restraining Yaya Nyassi, the Alkalo of Duwasu village from trespassing on the disputed land pending the case outcome.
