Abubacarr Kujabi scored a decisive 74th-minute winner as Lamin Zone edged Tujereng Zone 1-0 to claim their first-ever West Coast Zonal Football Championship title, sponsored by the Brikama Area Council.

The hard-fought final saw Lamin Zone hold their nerve to secure a historic victory and lift the coveted trophy.

As champions, Lamin Zone walked away with a cash prize of D175,000, gold medals and the giant championship trophy, while runners-up Tujereng Zone received D125,000 and silver medals as consolation.

Abubacarr Kujabi’s match-winning performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

His teammate Modou Lamin Fadera enjoyed an outstanding tournament, scooping both the Leading Goal Scorer and Young Best Player awards.

Despite finishing second, Tujereng Zone dominated several individual honours, with captain Saraney Jammeh winning both the Best Goalkeeper and Overall Best Player awards. Musa Marenah of Tujereng claimed the Best Goal of the Tournament award and the Tujereng Fans claimed the Best Fans’ Club Crown.

On the technical bench, Lamin Zone’s Sulayman M. Sanyang was named Best Coach of the tournament, while Tujereng Zone received the Most Disciplined Zone award.

The tournament concluded on a high note, celebrating talent, sportsmanship and competitive football across the West Coast Region.
