President Adama Barrow

President Adama Barrow has dismissed ongoing opposition efforts to form a coalition ahead of the December election, describing their discussions as ineffective and lacking seriousness.

Speaking at the inauguration of four linking roads in Brufut, Madiana, and Banyaka, the President said opposition parties should instead face him individually if they truly believe in their political strength.

He added that the presidency is a competitive space, stating: “If the presidency is an arena; I am the king of the arena.”

Barrow questioned how multiple political figures could all aspire to lead at the same time, including suggestions by some of a short-term leadership arrangement.

He described the coalition talks as “empty talks,” insisting they would not change the political landscape ahead of the elections.

The remarks come as opposition parties continue discussions aimed at forming a united front to challenge the ruling party in December.
