A team of investigators looking into corruption allegation at the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) will submit its findings next Wednesday (16 March), Gambiana has learned.

A source who we are not naming told Gambiana that the investigation is still progressing and that the report is due next week.

Asked if we can expect a result of the investigation on Wednesday, the source added: “not necessarily because that is the day the committee will submit the outcome of its findings to the (GPA) management for action.”

The Gambia Ports Authority has already suspended four of its staff members implicated in the corruption allegation.

They are accused of fraud and corruption over a multi-million-dalasi scandal.

The GPA had clarified in a statement that it had stopped all cash collection at the ports and that all importers are now required to make payments via Guarantee Trust Bank.
