Gambian rapper and outspoken social justice activist Killa Ace has revealed plans to release his much-anticipated album, Kilimanjaro, in 2025. 

After more than two years of work, the project is set to feature 13 tracks, which the artist describes as some of his most significant work to date.

Though Killa Ace has reportedly recorded over 30 songs for the album, only the most powerful and relevant tracks will make the final cut.

“This album is going to be special to me,” Killa Ace said, adding that “I’ve poured my heart into it, and it reflects not only my personal journey but also my vision for a better society.”

The album draws inspiration from Killa Ace’s collaborations with artists from across Africa, including Ethiopia, Morocco, Tanzania, and Mali.

The title, Kilimanjaro, symbolises both the highest peak on the African continent and the artist’s personal ascent in the music industry.

 “We need to stop the selective justice, stop picking and choosing who gets support based on personal connections,” he said, adding “It’s time we support people based on their true merits and credibility, and most importantly, we must protect the freedom of expression in art.”

The rapper has long been a vocal critic of political and social injustices in The Gambia. In 2018, he was arrested and detained at the notorious Mile 2 prison after leading protests and speaking out against government repression.

Since then, Killa Ace has continued to be a prominent voice for political change and justice in the country.

His activism has not been without consequence. Many Gambians, still scarred by the events of the 2000 student massacre, remain fearful of speaking out against the government. But Killa Ace believes that fear must be overcome.

“People are still scared to come out and speak against what’s wrong, because of the trauma and the fear of retaliation,” Killa Ace said. “But as artists and activists, we must push for change, amplify the voices of the oppressed, and demand accountability. We cannot remain silent.”
