UK-based Gambian Lamin Tamba has reacted to his unexpected dismissal from the APRC, saying former President Yahya Jammeh may not have been pleased with his resignation from his party position.

Tamba, speaking exclusively to Eye Africa TV, revealed that he was shocked by the move, as the party leadership never anticipated he would step down.

He explained that his resignation was due to the nature of his current work in the UK, where he oversees multiple departments.

Despite the resignation, Jammeh dismissed him from the party, which Tamba said came as a surprise. “President Jammeh dismissed us in APRC; maybe he was not pleased with my resignation from my position because they never expected it. I was shocked when he dismissed me,” he said.

He acknowledged that there are internal challenges within the alliance but stressed that he does not want to make the matter personal.

“There is a problem within the alliance, and I don’t want to go personal. That’s why, before I say or do anything, I make sure I investigate and have the facts,” he explained.

Mr Tamba emphasized that party politics in The Gambia and administrative positions hold little personal significance for him.

“For me, party politics in The Gambia doesn’t mean anything, and an administrative position doesn’t mean anything to me. I was defending the principles of APRC, and I knew what I was defending,” he said.
