Murder victim Marie Mendy was laid to rest following a service in Busumbala today.

A family ceremony for the 21-year-old student, who was killed in a murder-suicide, was held in Busumbala this afternoon.

Grieving mourners including her classmates from St. Peter’s Technical Senior Secondary School, sobbed as her coffin was carried from the family property ahead of burial at Busumbala Christian cemetery. 

The Grade 12 student was allegedly raped and killed by Zeizon Gomez, a family acquaintance at her home in Busumbala two weeks ago. Zeizon was found dead nearby in  a well.
