A nurse at Kanifing General Hospital says she was robbed by a group of men while returning home after a night shift, with her nursing licence, ID card, cash and other personal documents taken.

Nyima Sanyang said the robbers took her bag containing the documents and wallet.

She has appealed to anyone who finds documents bearing her name to help return them.

The incident has brought back memories of a similar robbery she experienced in 2025, when she eventually recovered her belongings.

Sanyang recalled that a man she believed was involved in that robbery was later brought to the hospital as a patient, where she cared for him despite her suspicions.

“It was a powerful reminder to me that we never truly know where life will take us.”

She added: “As healthcare workers, we are trained to care for people regardless of who they are or what they may have done.”

Sanyang said the latest incident highlights the risks healthcare workers face when travelling home after long shifts, particularly at night.

“Please, everyone, be careful and stay vigilant, especially when travelling home after work or moving around at night.”

She appealed for the return of her nursing licence, ID card and other important documents, saying they are difficult to replace.
