Police Chief Mamour Jobe

Police have admitted to a rise in criminal activities in the country but assured the public that they are committed to keeping them safe.

The country is seeing a rise in violent crimes such as burglaries and robberies since March when the coronavirus pandemic forced many people out of work.

Senior police officer Pateh Jallow told state broadcaster GRTS that they were working to address this issue.

“Yes, to be honest the crime rate is rising.

“What I want tell the law breakers is that let them stop [their criminal offences]. Anyone caught will be dealt with by the law.”
