Police have detained a man identified as Alhagie Manneh after he was arrested with D158,000 in Brikama Duromo Kolong.

Police said the suspect told them that the money was stolen from the burnt Fish Meal Factory during the Sanyang riot last month.

Mr Manneh’s arrest came as police launched a joint security patrol within the Greater Banjul Area in a bid to dismantle criminal hideouts and stop people carrying dangerous weapons in public.

The move has been widely welcomed by Gambians who are concerned with the crime rate in the country.
