The Gambian President Adama Barrow is to impose a 21-day curfew in the country in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Government spokesman Ebrima G Sankareh confirmed to GRTS on Wednesday that the curfew will commence tomorrow (Thursday).

The curfew will be imposed nationwide from 10pm to 5am, and anyone found outside who is not an essential worker will be liable to a fine of D5000.

It comes amid high rise in coronavirus that has infected 728 with 16 deaths since it emerged in March 2020.

President Barrow will also address the nation tonight after the Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare Fatou Kinteh tested positive for Covid-19.
