President Adama Barrow on Monday received the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan at State House.

Muraleedharan, who is in The Gambia on a three-day official visit, described his closed-door meeting as “very fruitful and warm” interaction with President Barrow.

He said he informed the president about the two MOUs signed between the two countries on visa waiver and a comprehensive framework agreement for cooperation.

The Foreign Minister stated that President Barrow fondly remembered the Indian President’s visit to The Gambia in 2019 and that his administration is committed to cooperating with The Gambia in agriculture and infrastructure.

President Barrow, he noted, is passionate about infrastructure as a fundamental component of growth.

“India with lots of experience in agriculture and infrastructure will be able to collaborate with The Gambia for the country to progress,” he said.

Muraleedharan went on to say that the partnership between India and The Gambia will depend on The Gambia’s priorities and requirements.

He added that India’s cooperation with The Gambia would be at bilateral, regional and multinational levels.
