The Gambia Police Force is appealing for public assistance in identifying a male pedestrian who died following a traffic accident on Sunday, 8 June 2025, in Bijilo.

The incident occurred near the National Roads Authority Office Complex when the pedestrian was struck by a private vehicle while reportedly running across the highway.

The vehicle was travelling from the Senegambia area towards Kasumai Junction at the time of the accident.

The victim was rushed to Kanifing General Hospital but was later pronounced dead. Authorities say no form of identification or contact information was found on him, and the body is currently being held at the Banjul Mortuary awaiting identification.

The driver involved is in police custody, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
