Sadibou Kamaso, the presidential aspirant of Team Restore Confidence, on Saturday 16th May, officially launched his manifesto, dubbed the “Starting XI,” at the President’s International Award Hall in Banjul.

The manifesto outlines Team Restore Confidence’s vision to professionalise Gambian football through improved league structures, increased prize money and better welfare for clubs, players and officials.

Speaking during the launch, Kamaso emphasised the need for proper administrative, financial and legal systems within clubs while also advocating for minimum wage structures and proper contracts for players and staff in a proposed professional league setup.

Among the key proposals highlighted in the manifesto is the establishment of a League Management Company that would allow clubs to own shares and take greater control of league operations.

The manifesto also promises a significant increase in prize money across domestic competitions. Under the proposal, the Male First Division League champions would receive D2 million, while the runners-up and third-place teams would earn D1.5 million and D1 million respectively. Participating clubs would also receive preparatory support funds of D250,000 each.

For the Male Federation Cup, the proposed prize money would rise to D1.5 million for the winners, D500,000 for the runners-up and D250,000 for third place.

In the Male Second Division League, the winners are set to receive D1 million, runners-up D700,000, and third place D400,000. Participating teams would also benefit from D200,000 preparatory funds each.

The manifesto further outlines plans to improve women’s football. The Women’s First Division League winners would receive D1 million, while the runners-up and third-place teams would earn D700,000 and D400,000 respectively, alongside D200,000 preparatory funds for participating teams.

For the Women’s Second Division League, the proposed prize money includes D700,000 for the champions, D500,000 for runners-up and D250,000 for third place, with participating clubs to receive D150,000 each in preparatory support.

Additionally, Team Restore Confidence intends to engage the Gambian Government in creating policies that would establish an enabling environment for the professionalisation of the domestic league.
