A Gambian man, currently based in Scotland, has flown home specifically to take legal action against a Gambian security agency that allegedly wrongfully implicated his brother in possession of illegal drugs.
Kawsu Bah, did not name the security force but suspects it could be either the Drug Law Enforcement Agency or Anti-Crime operatives.
“Recently, some security officers came to my residence and accused my brother of possessing drugs. They even threw a cannabis wrap into my home and claimed it belonged to him, even though my brother neither smokes nor drinks alcohol. That’s why I flew from Scotland to The Gambia, to sue the agency,” he said, his eyes reflecting his displeasure.
His brother, who was arrested, was later released. Bah alleged that his brother was asked to pay D10,000.
He added: “My brother has since been released. At the time, he was sitting with the welder, about fifty metres away. They asked me to pay D10,000 to close the case, but I refused.”
“They told him that some people reported he was dealing in Kush and that they had seen him at my Manjai home, which is quite big and open, so anyone can access it. I don’t even know if they were part of the Anti-Crime Unit or the Drug Squad,” he continued.
