The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has publicly distanced itself from recent statements made by former international footballer El Hadji Ousseynou Diouf, reaffirming its respect for the institutions of the Republic of Senegal.

In a press release issued in Dakar on January 25, 2026, the federation expressed regret over comments attributed to Diouf concerning the management of land allocations reportedly granted by the state to football stakeholders, as well as remarks touching on broader international sports matters.

The FSF made it clear that it does not associate itself with the substance or tone of Diouf’s statements, particularly those directed at the Senegalese state.

The federation stressed that the government has consistently demonstrated strong institutional and financial support for national football, adding that the land matter raised is already being handled by the highest authorities of the republic.

According to the federation, public claims made through the media are not an appropriate channel for addressing such issues. Instead, it emphasised its preference for republican dialogue and established administrative procedures.

While acknowledging Diouf’s status as a legend of Senegalese football, the FSF underlined that his remarks were made in a personal capacity and do not reflect the official position of the federation or its executive committee. It stated that responsibility for the comments rests solely with the former player.

The federation also rejected any association with Diouf’s views on international football governance, noting that its positions on international sports affairs are determined exclusively by the executive committee and communicated only through its president or authorised spokespersons.

In conclusion, the FSF reiterated its commitment to respecting state institutions and called on all actors connected to Senegalese football to exercise restraint, responsibility and respect in public discourse, in order to safeguard the country’s image and maintain stability within the sport.
