Mayor Ahmed Talib Bensouda, leader of the Unite Movement for Change, has delivered a bold message to supporters, insisting that no human force can stop the rise of his political movement as the country heads toward the 2026 presidential election.
Mr Bensouda said the movement has grown beyond fear, intimidation, and political pressure, describing it as a people-powered force that is gaining strength across the regions.
“There is no human being who can stop Unite Movement for Change; only God can stop us,” Talib said.
He added: “And the movement will contest the 2026 presidential election, and we will win.”
Talib, who has positioned himself as a reform-minded leader, said Gambians are ready for a political transformation that prioritises fairness, accountability, and opportunities for all.
He argued that the current state of governance has left many citizens frustrated, and that fresh leadership is urgently needed.
He said the mobilisation efforts of the Unite Movement for Change have reached every corner of the country, with strong backing from young people, women, and first-time voters.
“The momentum we have today is unprecedented. People are embracing this movement because they want real change, not recycled politics,” he said.
The Unite Movement for Change, which began as a grassroots platform, has quickly evolved into a national political force with expanding structures and visible public support.
