The National Association of Gambia Nurses and Midwives are meeting today, Saturday July 7, to elect a new executive.

The elected executive will have the mandate to steer the affairs of the Association for the next five years.

Respresenting the outgoing president of the Association, Mam Kumba Ndow Ceesay, urged her colleagues to remain dynamic and committed to their profession.

She listed the key areas of Nursing – regulation, socio-economy welfare and professionalism – that her executive had worked tirelessly to improve upon.

Ms Ceesay added: “we know that nurses still struggle daily to care for their patients sometimes in difficult circumstances.”

But she urged them to continue to be committed to their profession.

She also told the gathering “to be vigilant of the Association and stay focus with the affairs of it”.

Meanwhile, the election and reports on the association’s activities are due in the later part of the day.
