Traders in food products in Gambian markets are asked to open businesses from 6am to 1pm daily, government has said in a statement.

On Thursday the Gambia government  came up with amendment on the emergency regulations on Covid-19 coronavirus demanding food traders to run businesses for eight hours a day as new measures to protect people from the virus.

This comes nine days into the extension of state of public emergency to 45 days aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus. 

A statement from the presidency said: “effective immediately, all persons trading in food products in any market in The Gambia shall open for business between 6.00am and 1.00pm each day.”

The statement also added:”similarly, persons trading in non-food products in any market shall now open between the hours of 2.00pm and 6pm daily.”
