A woman whose name remained witheld was arrested and later bailed for allegedly stealing a newborn baby at Kuntaur health centre, Gambiana has been informed.

The incidence happened on May 2.

A source who spoke to Gambia said the alleged woman took the newborn baby  from her mother after pretending to be one of the health officials in the hospital. 

“The mother of the child was in her bed at the health centre and the woman just entered the maternal room and requested the child from the mother and she (mother) gave the child to her while thinking she is a nurse,” the source said.

“When the matter was taken to the police station, police rushed to the Wassu highway and caught the woman in a horse cart with the child wrapped in a blanket.”
