
Gambian international Alasana Yirajang is set to be coached by one of Africa’s greatest football icons after Yaya Touré was appointed head coach of Slovak champions Slovan Bratislava.

The former Ivory Coast midfielder, a four-time African Footballer of the Year and ex-Barcelona and Manchester City star, has secured his first senior managerial role following the completion of his coaching qualifications through the Football Association of Wales.

Touré announced his appointment on social media, saying: “Proud to be appointed Head Coach of ŠK Slovan Bratislava. I’m excited for the challenge ahead.
“I’m looking forward to working with the players, staff and leadership as we begin this new chapter together.
“To the fans – we are together in our mission and you will be central in our success. Let’s get to work!”

For Yirajang, the appointment marks an exciting chapter in his career, offering the Gambian midfielder the opportunity to work closely with one of African football’s most decorated figures.
Touré enjoyed a glittering playing career, winning league titles in England, Spain and Greece, as well as the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona. He also captained Ivory Coast and remains one of the continent’s most influential footballers.
