The Gambia U-20 team began their WAFU A U-20 tournament campaign with a goalless draw against Liberia on Thursday.

Despite dominating possession, the Young Scorpions struggled to create enough clear-cut opportunities, lacking creativity and attacking spark for much of the encounter.

The result leaves The Gambia with work to do ahead of their next fixture as they seek to improve their attacking play.

In the other Group A match, Guinea Conakry defeated hosts Mali 1-0 to claim all three points and make an early statement in the competition.
