Abdoulie Bojang has reported being threatened with violence in Old Yundum, prompting an investigation by the Gambia Police Force.
The incident occurred at a supermarket entrance, is said to have started after Bojang was asked to move his parked vehicle.
According to police, the situation escalated into a confrontation during which Bojang alleged that the suspect, identified as Bunis Briwandi, attempted to assault him with an iron object.
Police confirmed that Briwandi was arrested, cautioned, and later granted bail while investigations continue. Officers have also taken statements from witnesses as part of the inquiry.
The force said it is treating the matter seriously as it works to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged threat.
Meanwhile, police have raised concern over the circulation of unverified claims about the incident on social media, including allegations linking the matter to derogatory remarks against the President.
“The Gambia Police Force unequivocally dissociates itself from such claims and has not established any evidence to support them,” the statement said.
Police have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information, warning that such actions could undermine ongoing investigations.
