Gambian midfielder Adama Jeng has reportedly attracted interest from several European clubs following his impressive performances at the WAFU Zone A U-17 tournament in Senegal.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring the 15-year-old, who has emerged as one of the standout players for The Gambia’s Baby Scorpions.
Jeng, who stands at 6ft 2in and turns 16 in December, has been deployed as a holding midfielder for The Gambia during the tournament.
His performances helped the Baby Scorpions reach the final, where they defeated hosts Senegal 5-3 on penalties on Monday to lift the title.
Chelsea are reportedly not alone in their interest, with Bayern Munich, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Paris FC also said to be monitoring the teenager. Monaco and Union Saint-Gilloise are also reportedly keeping tabs on his progress.
Jeng developed through the Samger FC academy in The Gambia, which has produced a number of players who have gone on to pursue careers abroad.
His combination of physical presence, mobility and technical potential is understood to have attracted the attention of scouts looking for emerging talent.
Chelsea continue focus on young talent
Chelsea have increasingly focused on recruiting promising young players from across the world, and Jeng’s profile appears to fit that strategy.
The London club have yet to make a formal move for the Gambian, but their reported interest places Jeng among a growing group of young African talents being monitored by major European clubs.

For Jeng, the reported interest represents a significant development following his breakthrough tournament with The Gambia.
At 15, however, his development remains at an early stage, and any move to Europe would need to be considered alongside the appropriate pathway for his continued development.
With several prominent clubs reportedly tracking his progress, Jeng is now likely to attract increased attention as he continues his development in Gambian football.
