Activist Alieu Bah has been abruptly taken into custody in Lamin this afternoon, leaving him confused and frustrated.
The outspoken activist was bundled into a police black van after being spotted in the area, which has been tense since violent protests erupted over the death of Omar Badjie following a reported confrontation with police.
While inside the van, Bah spoke to reporters, saying he still does not know why he was arrested.
“I was just standing there when they arrested me. I don’t even know what I did wrong,” he said.
He added that a police officer came up to him, called him by name, and said in Fula, “You are under arrest.”
Residents in Lamin Mandinaring have continued to protest Badjie’s death, demanding justice and accountability from the authorities.
