President Adama Barrow has pledged to clampdown on civil servants who turn up to work late and leave the office early as he addressed the newly appointed ministers during their swearing in ceremony held at State House yesterday.

“With the beginning of their tenure, I advise them to focus on monitoring and ensuring discipline in the civil service. Indiscipline must not be tolerated in particular among senior officers. In the similar vein, lateness and leaving office before closing time which are relatively common should stop,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also tasked the Public Service Commission to come up with an appraisal policy for promotion.

“I have to emphasise also that promotion should not be determined by length as a criteria for promotion rather than duration of service,” he added.
