Omar Amadou Jallow, former minister of agriculture, who was better known as OJ has died aged 77.

He served as minister of agriculture in both former president Dawda Kairaba Jawara and current President Adama Barrow government. 

He was however relieved of his ministerial portfolio by President Barrow in 2018 after an allegation of fertilizer scandal.

The late statesman is remembered as one of the courageous Gambians who had been arrested by Jammeh regime on 22 occasions. 

He was well known for his stance against dictatorship and for speaking truth to power.
