Buba Jallow, who is standing trial over the alleged fatal stabbing of electrician Ebou Njie in Latrikunda German, has sparked widespread public anger after a hand gesture he made while being escorted to court in handcuffs was widely interpreted as insulting.

Jallow, also known as “Buba J,” appeared at the Kanifing Court where he faces a murder charge linked to the incident that reportedly occurred last week and resulted in the death of the young electrician.
He was arrested shortly after the alleged killing.
It is the conduct during his court appearance that has now taken centre stage, after he was seen raising a hand gesture while in custody.
The gesture has been widely circulated online and is being described by many members of the public as disrespectful and insulting, triggering anger and heated debate across social media.
He is accused of verbally insulting journalists who were taking photographs as he was being escorted into the court premises, further fuelling public outrage.
While reactions continue to pour in from residents in Latrikunda German and beyond, many are demanding justice for the deceased and calling for calm as the legal process continues.
Authorities are expected to continue presenting evidence in the coming hearings. The court has not made any determination, and the accused remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
