A ten million euro pilot project was recently launched in The Gambia to address poverty in the country. 

The grant is to make meaningful changes in the following sectors horticulture, poultry and fisheries in a bid to contribute to the nation’s sustainable development.

The project target areas include the Greater Banjul Area, Lower River Region and Upper Rever Region. It is being funded by the German Ministry of International Cooperation. 

Pa Saibo Beyai, the project national co-ordinator, said the project would construct landing sites for fishing towns Barra, Jeswang, Banjul, Brufut, Batakunku and Tanji. 

He said the beneficiaries of the project will be cooperative and farmer organisations, youth groups and Kafos.
