This is the first picture of a young Gambian father murdered in a broad daylight stabbing in France. 

Youssoupha York died in hospital after the brutal attack at rue Colette, in the district of La Métare, Saint-Etienne, on Wednesday night, according to France Bleu. 

The violent assault was captured on camera and shows the gang of about a dozen men surrounding the victim, Youssoupha, who stood no chance as he was beaten and stabbed multiple times in the stomach. 

According to the AFP, which cites police and judicial sources, the victim was assaulted by a group of Armenians and stabbed in front of witnesses who filmed the attack.

The 26-year-old victim, who had just become a father for the first time, was conscious when firefighters and paramedics arrived and was rushed to the North Hospital. But he died overnight from his injuries. 

According to eyewitnesses the attack happened around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, when the victim, had an altercation with the suspects among a group of about ten people in a residential area of ​​the city. 

His assault would have started for a “futile reason” during which the young father received four stab wounds in the stomach, while he was facing the suspects who had become violent “apparently under the influence of alcohol”, according to a police sources.

The savage attack has been condemned on social media and some commentators have claimed racist motives for the attack on Youssoupha.

A Twitter user by the name of Jo, shared the disturbing video on the social media platform. He tweeted:

“The video was deleted I put it back for those who can’t see. The victim is Youssoupha, a 26-year-old black man, father of a 2.5 month-old girl who was savagely killed by negrophobes of Armenian origin in Saint Etienne. It happened 2 days ago.”
