Gambians Against Looted Assets has warned authorities against what it claims are plans to arrest defence lawyer Lamin J. Darboe, describing any such move as a threat to justice and civil rights.

In a statement, the group said it had received “credible information” suggesting that the state may move to detain the lawyer, who was part of the defence team in the recent Bojang case.

The group described Darboe as “a patriotic, selfless and courageous lawyer” and cautioned against any attempt to arrest him.

“Any attempt to arrest him will be seen as a direct attack on justice and the rights of the people,” the statement said.

It further warned that such a move could trigger nationwide protests, calling on supporters to remain alert and organised.

Authorities have not responded to the claims, and there has been no official confirmation of any planned arrest.

The situation remains unverified, with more details expected as events unfold.
