The Gambia has launched a D25 million Students’ Revolving Loan Scheme to improve access to higher and tertiary education by helping students overcome financial barriers.
Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow presided over the national launch of the Students’ Revolving Loan Scheme (SRLS) and its Endowment Fund at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre.
The scheme will provide D25 million to its first beneficiaries, marking the start of a financing initiative intended to support Gambian students pursuing higher education.
The revolving loan arrangement is designed to sustain student financing over time, with funds expected to be recycled to support future beneficiaries.
The accompanying SRLS Endowment Fund is also intended to strengthen the sustainability of the initiative and support continued assistance for students.
The launch highlights efforts to widen access to tertiary education and create more opportunities for Gambians to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to national development.
Through the initiative, the scheme aims to ease some of the financial challenges that prevent students from pursuing higher education and promote more equitable access to educational opportunities across
