
The Golden Era Party (GEP) has formally merged with the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) in a move described as a bold step towards national renewal, unity and inclusive development.
The alliance brings both parties under a single political platform, aimed at strengthening organisation, leadership and national outreach as they pursue a shared political vision.
Under the new arrangement, Saikou Sawo will serve as President and Flag Bearer of the PPP, with Nene Cheyassin Secka appointed Vice President, while Ousman Madikay Faal assumes the role of Party Leader and Secretary General.
Party officials say the leadership structure reflects balance, experience and collective responsibility, anchored on a commitment to people-centred governance.
In a joint statement, the parties stressed that the union is driven by principles of unity over division, accountability over empty politics, and development over self-interest.
They also reaffirmed their rejection of tribalism and divisive politics, pledging to promote discipline, purpose and national cohesion.
The newly united platform said it is focused on charting a clear new direction for the country, promising a politics that is united, focused and firmly committed to the Gambian people.
